Well it's that time of year again, we are setting off to race around a track for two hours while trying not to cough my lungs up. After all the state level racing, I am hoping to see some improvement this year. Who knows? The standard of women's racing in Australia is just getting better and better (which is definitely a good thing!). Really it's a personal challenge that you can only rise up to and take on yourself, regardless of what the rest of the field is doing.
Unlike road racing, XC mountain biking is really you vs yourself. There just happens to be other people doing the same thing. Other competitors offer motivation to go harder and hurt yourself a bit more, but in the end it's about what you can do in between the gun going off and crossing the line on your final lap. It's not about how much your team can do for you, or how much you can do for your team (ie: road racing).
So on that note, we are heading to Tassie tomorrow to have some fun, ride some bikes and try to do our best!
