University, a lot of rain and attempting to ride.

The past few weeks has been a bit hectic.

More than a bit! Though I have only been doing 10–13 hours fluffing around on the bike, trying to find new trails and maintaining a level of general fitness, it's a lot to manage when you have full-time university and trying to work as well.

Last week I worked four days, was at uni five days, and managed to fit in 11-hours of riding (we won't talk about the quality...but that's okay). Not to mention about a zillion hours of Bioscience study...dearly needed for a science-luddite who has been happily walking through life sans science since grade ten (oh dear...). Anyway.

So that's life.

The rain in Brisbane has been catapulting down for the past few days, the wind trainer has been blown up previously by yours truly (which also included the obliteration of a trainer tyre, a Maxxis Re-Fuse and a Maxxis Cormet, woe is me!), and I am sick of rolling around on the rollers. So today I decided to go out on the SS (aka: the Rain Bike).

I love the SS, it makes riding fun, even in the most putrid of weather. I only managed 1hr 40 today, as all my planned fire-road loops were completely inaccessible due to a torrent of angry, muddy-looking water raging down the Samford Valley climb. I rode all the (limited) Ironbark trails, which were really just long, large puddles, though I can't complain too much because at least there wasn't a lot of mud!

Back through Bunya, which included a waist-high hike-a-bike (good thing I didn't just throw myself into that one!) as I fought the muddy rapids at the base of number one trail.

Actually, I wonder where that rapid was running to...it was heading towards the climb UP number one? Am I confused, or is the raging, muddy, rapid (mmm...gritty bits in my socks—LOVE IT!)

I fought y way home along the road from there, the nasty piercing rain trying to puncture my eyes with a tropical vengeance typical of Brisbane weather oddities (like this excessive rain, a-herm!).

I got home, completely wet but without fear of dehydration as the water had entered every orofice on my wet, wet adventure!

I love Stevie, my SS truck. Despite her relative obesity compared to all the other steed in the stable.

But I definitely DON'T like being wet!
