Makeup Review Monday: Stardust

We are starting something new on R&C! Makeup Review Monday! So lets kick this first one off with a bang!

Urban Decay Stardust: Retrograde

I received Retrograde from fellow blogger, Laura, for Christmas. I love purple, and I wholeheartedly believe that there is a purple for everyone, you just have to experiment and try them out.

The Packaging: I really like how this is packaged. You squeeze the sides and it pops open! Easy but will not fall open in your makeup bag. Also, if you are like me and frequently handling twelve products at once, a color that only takes one hand to open is always a plus.

The color: I have already said I love purple. However, not all purples are created equal. This one is a good one. It is more grape than burgundy, which I see a lot in purple shadows.

Application and Formula: I have found that most Urban Decay shadows are more hits than misses in this category with the exception of a few. The formula of this one is a hit! It is silky smooth, even for the amount of glitter that is in this shadow. I also like to experiment wet vs. dry, especially with UD. Dry it applies a sheer lilac. Wet it applies a dark and more edgy, closer to the grape that it appears in the pan. Left photo is in natural light, right photo is artificial. The top swipe of color is wet, bottom is dry.

To Sum It Up: I really like this shadow because it is versatile and applies smooth. The color is a win win because you can apply wet or dry and get two very different looks. Cons: There is A LOT of glitter. I love a glitter party as much as the next person, but it does get all over your face and probably is not appropriate in a professional setting.

The Urban Decay Stardust collection is available at Sephora and Sephora.com. What do you think of the Stardust colors?
