I did one of those once. It was part of a multiday stage race and it was the 90km day. I got to 90 and then hit some singletrack, I knew where the end was, and I knew it was nowhere near where I was. I started going backwards. It was early days in my riding experience, and I was sitting in about 4th. That final 12km 'over' put me well back to about 6th. My brain not comprehendo the distance and I shut down.
I'm praying they got the distance right this time, or even better, it's one of those events when it's advertised as 100km, but it's really only 93km. That would be fabulous right now.
Anyway, i'm on course for a good finish, baby head is fully engaged and holy moly do I know it! I don't think I can do another 3 1/2 weeks of this (maximum overdue time for baby!) 0-7 days seems like it would be the max I could live with the perpetual stabbing groin pain and inability to walk. I look a little bit like an invalid walking right now.
I have plenty of other niggles, lots of back and abdominal aching but nothing too exciting in the way of contractions. Will keep you posted. Going to go for a ride now and put some downward pressure on that cervix.
Mayhem, please come out soon. xo, AB. |
