Heavy Metal & Chanel

Yesterday I received my Chanel order containing Steel from the Soho Story collection (Both Steel and Strong are still available at Chanel.com for purchase). I decided against getting Strong due to swatches I saw on Beauty Verdict which made the color look more black than blackberry. Since I already own two other shades that seem to have the same look and I don't own any other gray nail polish (Vendetta and Blue Satin) Steel was clearly the winner. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the decision I made!

As you can see, Steel swatches as a dark gray or charcoal shade with a subtle silver shimmer. The color isn't as metallic looking as expected, but in person it has the look similar to molten lead which I think is unique.

With flash it's easier to see how pretty the shimmer is in the shade. This shade also only needs one layer to look even, with two it becomes more similar to black and a bit too dark for my tastes. The color also applied smoothly (not very well indicated by my bad manicure skills) and has been chip resistant thus far in my two days wearing it. It's a pretty color and if you're a Chanel nail polish addict like me it's definitely worth adding to your collection. However, it is not completely and utterly unique shade as other Chanel releases in the past. If possible, definitely run by a Chanel counter to swatch it for yourself to see how pretty it is in person before purchasing.
