Today I had a bit of a climbing epic planned, cut to 2 and a half hours by the floods at the bottom of every descent that preceeded the climb out...which means a U-bolt and back the way you came. Less than satisfactory!
I did a Gold Creek Rd loop, where you come off the main Nebo fireroad, left down a looong bitumen descent, then right along the bitumen valley and into reserve and up the 2 or 3km climb on the dirt back to South Boundary Rd (aka: Nebo).
I then rode up the climb, and took a right down one of the descents that dips down, crosses over a (usually very dry) river bed and then climbs out to Nebo Rd (the bitumen one).
But at the bottom of the descent, I had a bit of this:
I decided, after wading in to my knees, that though I could swim quite well, poor old Flash Gordon (ie: my Cannondale Flash) had no proven swimming record or Bronze Medallion, so I hightailed it back up the hill. Lucky Flash Gordon climbs so well!
Proof that Flash is truly the saviour of the universe (god bless the 80's):
Meanwhile, Flash Gordon makes a house-party/underground techno-club comeback (it's a bit german techno, but hey...):
Meanwhile, here's a few more pics of Aido at the muddy four hour. Notice how the top of his leather SLR (white, of course, now a funny shade of brown...) has completely worn off. Epic. I am glad I was balled up under a tent with a good hot coffee!
