Makeup Review Monday: Sugar Scrub

Happy Monday and Happy MLK day!

When I went to England this summer for my friend's wedding, the makeup lady put a sort of scrub on my lips to exfoliate them. It was a wipe off scrub that I can unfortunately say, did not have a pleasant taste. Over the holidays, I began thinking about this scrub because I was suffering from terrible chapped lips. However, I did not know the brand of the scrub the lady in England used, or where to search for it.

So, as I was taking care of some Christmas shopping I visited one of my favorite stores: Lush. I was buying gifts and I saw it at the counter and asked the woman helping me about it. Sugar Scrub. She explained it as flavored sugar that exfoliates your lips and you lick it off when you're done. On a whim, I bought it.

I bought the Mint Julips flavor which is kind of a chocolate mint flavor. I love this product. It is fantastic. It gives more color to your lips because it removes the "junk". It also makes applying other lip products easier. My favorite Tarte lip stain applies like butter. I also ended up receiving the bubblegum flavor in another Christmas gift. The flavor is alright, but its not the best one.

The only bad part is that I found it somewhat difficult to apply. It comes in a little pot, and my initial idea was to swipe it on with my finger. It doesn't want to stick to my finger, so I ended up dipping my just licked lips in the pot. I actually prefer this method because then its on my lips where its supposed to be, not on my hands. So this is really not a huge drawback.

I highly recommend this product. It just makes life better and more fresh! Available at Lush counters and stores as well as online at Lush.
